Kento Mori was born in 1979 and grew up in Tokyo. During his childhood he spent a lot of time flipping through his parent's huge collection of imported magazines for fun. At the age of eleven his parents bought him a cassette tape of DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince while on vacation in Hawaii. With this he started watching low budget old school music videos and took an interest in American youth culture.
After studying American Literary History in Tamagawa University (B.F.A),
he moved to San Francisco where he established his style in the photographic field. As a foreign student he spent a lot of time on the streets taking photographs of people and conversing with them. This helped him greatly improve his photographic sense and English communication skills.
He graduated with 2nd degree in Fine Art Photography from the Academy of Art University in 2005. His work has been published in various magazines and has appeared in exhibitions in the US, UK and JAPAN. He currently lives and works in his hometown, in Tokyo.
